The South African Parliament on Thursday elected Cyril Ramaphosa to the post of President of the Republic, following the resignation the day before the controversial Jacob Zuma, pushed to the exit by his own party.

Cyril Ramaphosa, leader of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party, “is duly elected President of the Republic of South Africa,” Mogoeng Mogoeng, chairman of the Constitutional Court, applauded by MPs in extraordinary session.
